Tina D'Aversa - City of Milton Council Woman
Dear Milton Neighbor,
As your city council representative, I have voted for the services you need and I have voted to support the issues and items that you, citizens, have asked me to support. The city conducted a mail survey in fall 2007. The results were clear that citizens support the vision for Milton adopted unanimously by the city leaders in early 2007. I do not serve myself as I represent the City of Milton, I serve you, the taxpaying citizens and residents of the unique city of Milton. I appreciate the opportunity to support your vision.
I did not support the hasty extension of sewer in Milton and look forward to a proper planning process as the CPAC Committee finalizes the Comprehensive Plan. Without a comprehensive plan including a transportation plan in place, I could not vote to make such a change in our waste water treatment/sewer policy at this time.
I do not support an increasing in taxes and our city charter precludes an increase in taxes or the mileage rate without a vote of the citizens of Milton.
My passion is parks and green space and I look forward to working to develop our 215 acre Birmingham Park and continuing our efforts at Bell Memorial Park where the Hopewell Youth Association manages a tremendous baseball league for children 4 to 15 years of age.
In 2008, I was the council member who established the Parks and Recreation Citizen Committee to help guide these efforts. In 2008, I was instrumental in establishing the Highway 9 Design Guidelines Citizen Committee. This committee is working to develop high design and development standards for the Highway 9 area including Districts 5 and 6 and a portion of District 4.
In 2007, the city conducted a citizen survey and you spoke loud and clear with a more than 30 percent response rate. I heard you and I am listening!
Incorporated on December 1, 2006, the City of Milton is a distinctive community that embraces small-town life and heritage while preserving and enhancing the city's rural character. The City of Milton is committed to maintaining the unique quality of life for its constituents while efficiently delivering essential services to residents and businesses in an interactive community environment.
